For the Love of Storage Containers

Tubs, Baskets, Bins. . .You Name It!!

I hope you had fun with our first challenge of "having a place for everything and putting it in that place" IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU ARE DONE WITH IT!

Pretty cool habit to develop, isn't it?

  • No mess to look at
  • Nothing to spend hours on picking up later, as one thing left out leads to another and another and another. . .You know what I'm talking about!!

This post discusses how to create a place for everything.

I love storage tubs, baskets, bins of all sorts to keep things in order.  There is a huge variety to choose from to meet any need you have!  Some are fun and can be used in decorating, and others are purely functional.

I use both types!

Let me share with you a few tips I have learned in the art of selecting storage tubs.

  • Don't get storage tubs that have a big taper from top to bottom.  It wastes precious storage space.

Below is an example of how there is not wasted space with less of a taper--

Most storage tubs have some taper so they can stack into each other when you aren't using them and you want to store them for future use.  You want them to stack like the picture below for easy storage when not in use.

Baskets are notorious for not stacking into each other when they are the same size, so look out for that if you want them to able to stack into each other when not in use.

I love using baskets when I want additional storage that also adds texture and style to a room.

Laundry baskets can also be a good option for storing items.

We use these for dress-ups.  They are a perfect choice for that because imaginative children can see which dress-ups are in the laundry basket and easily reach in and get them.  There is no lid to get in the way.

I hope this gives you some things to think about in how you want to find a place for everything.

Have fun getting your home in order.  It's the perfect time of year for those of us experiencing winter.  I love the peaceful feeling of the world covered in the whiteness of snow when you can spend a day at home catching up on getting your home in order.

As strange as it may sound to some, I believe having a home of order fosters this feeling within each of us!!

Enjoy the beauty without and within!!
