Create Happiness

A personal state of happiness is worth pondering for 2019! How would you define happiness? Is it simply the state of being happy? Perhaps happiness has as many different definitions as there are people? We each need to take the time to ponder and evaluate what happiness is to us.

Without going into deep detail an article in Psychology Today states-

“More than simply positive mood, happiness is a state of well-being that encompasses living a good life—that is, with a sense of meaning and deep satisfaction….Research shows that much of happiness is under personal control. Regularly indulging in small pleasures, getting absorbed in challenging activities, setting and meeting goals, maintaining close social ties, and finding purpose beyond oneself all increase life satisfaction.”

In another article it states -

“Happiness has also been said to relate to life satisfaction, appreciation of life, moments of pleasure, but overall it has to do with the positive experience of emotions….”

The author brings up the point that happiness does not mean we do not experience negative emotions. He states - “Nobody is immune to life's stressors, but the question is whether you see those stressors as moments of opposition or moments of opportunity.”

Eleanor Roosevelt said -

All these thoughts on happiness are definitely worth pondering as we approach a new year. Only you can know what happiness is to you.
